8 Top Movers is a comparison publication and a moving concierge. We rank long-distance moving companies and, when you ask us to, put the moving criteria — route, size, and date — through our network of eight so they can send pricing to us. You then choose which mover to go with. Name, phone, and email stay with our desk. The eight companies never receive them. How the ranking works — and how we are paid — is described in our methodology and disclosure.

When you request quotes, the form asks for:

• your first and last name, email address, and phone number
• the origin and destination ZIP codes of your move
• the type of move and, optionally, your home size and estimated move date
• whether you are also interested in portable storage

We do not ask for, or collect, a street address.

When you submit the form we also record:

• your IP address and browser user-agent — kept with the submission as part of the consent record, and used for rate limiting
• the page you arrived from and standard campaign parameters on the link that brought you here (utm_source, utm_medium, utm_campaign, utm_term, utm_content, gclid)

We set one first-party cookie:

• 8tm_slot— set when you visit a ranked company’s page or a quote URL that names that company. It is cleared if you start a site-wide visit (the homepage or a quote page that does not name a company). It records which ranked listing this visit arrived through. It is not readable by scripts and is not used for advertising.

The browser’s session storage holds one flag so the exit prompt is not shown twice in a visit. When Google Ads conversion measurement is enabled for this site, we also load Google’s conversion tag so we can tell Google that a quote request completed. That tag is used only for conversion attribution and bid optimization for our own ads — not for third-party retargeting audiences. When Google Tag Manager is configured for a deployment, we also load a Tag Manager container so we can measure site analytics (for example Google Analytics 4) that marketing configures in that workspace. Tag Manager does not replace the Ads conversion tag on this site. When those tags are not configured, the corresponding scripts are not loaded.

Quotes only go out if you check the consent box. The exact language you agree to — reproduced here from the same text the form displays, so the two cannot differ — is:

Those companies pay us to compete for your business. That pay is not added to your quote. They are independent businesses operating under their own privacy policies. We do not sell your contact details to an open marketplace or to data brokers.

Service providers that process data for us, and what each does:

• Supabase — application hosting and database
• Cloudflare Turnstile — bot challenge on the quote form
• Twilio Lookup — checks that a submitted phone number is reachable
• NeverBounce — checks that a submitted email address is deliverable
• Resend — transactional email (your confirmation message)
• Vercel — web hosting and request logs
• Google Ads — conversion measurement when a quote request completes (only if the tag is configured for this deployment)
• Google Tag Manager — loads only when configured; used to deliver analytics tags (such as Google Analytics 4) that we manage for this site. It does not sell your quote details.

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or receive a copy of your personal information, to opt out of its sale or sharing, and not to be discriminated against for exercising those rights. We keep lead and consent records for as long as needed to operate the service and to evidence the consent you gave, then delete or de-identify them.

This site is for adults arranging moves. It is not directed to children, and we do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18.
